It’s just about Father’s Day and that means buying a card and giving your dad something he’ll really enjoy. You know what dads like? They like stuff that is made with love, especially when it’s made with their kid’s own two hands.
If you are looking for something super easy to make for Dad’s Day, we’ve got you covered. Your dad deserves an award for everything he does. So, why not make him one? This award craft from the Easy Peasy and Fun YouTube channel is super easy and super peasy (also, extremely fun).
Let’s get started!
What you’ll need:
- Three sheets of colored paper in your dad’s two favorite colors (two of one color and one of a different, light color)
- A glue stick
- A pair of scissors
- A marker
- A cup or some other round object for tracing a circle
Step 1
Take one of the sheets of paper and fold it in half lengthwise and then cut it in half along the fold. (Not the color that you only have one of, the color that you have two sheets of.)
Step 2
Lay one of the half-sheets on a table and then fold one end over about a ¼ of an inch or so. Turn it over and then do that same fold again. Keep turning the piece over and folding that same width of paper over and over until it is all folded. When you are done, you should end up with an “accordian” of paper.
Step 3
Holding your “accordian” of paper closed, bend the entire thing in the middle widthwise. Glue the two flat surfaces that you bent toward each other together. Squeeze it tightly for several seconds so the glue sticks. When you let go, you should have a half circle of “accordion” paper. Glue the last four folds of paper to each other just in the middle. Repeat the entire process with the other piece of cut paper so you have two half-circles of “accordion” paper.
Step 4
Glue the two halves together.
Step 5
While the glue is drying on your circle, take a cup or other round object and trace a circle onto the other, light-colored piece of paper. Cut out the circle and write your Father’s Day message on it. “World’s Best Dad,” “#1 Dad,” “Best Dad Award” and “Best Dad Ever” all fit nicely.
Step 6
Put glue on the back of the circle with the message and glue it onto the “accordion” paper circle.
Step 7
Take the third sheet of paper and cut two strips off the end that are each about 1.5 - 2 inches. Put these strips one on top of the other and then cut a triangle out of the bottom of both pieces. If these pieces look a bit too long, you can cut some off the ends without the triangle cuts.
Step 8
Glue these two strips to each other at the end without the triangle cut. When you glue them, the strips should only be touching on the ends. They should be connected so they look like an upside down V.
Step 9
Glue the two strips to the back of the circle and let the glue dry.
You now have your “Best Dad Award” ready to give to your pop. Let him soak it in. While you are making stuff for him, why not grab your Click-A-Bricks and make him something out of those? Your imagination is your only limit!
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
