The team at Click-A-Brick is pleased to see major toy retailer Toys“R”Us has predicted that dinosaur toys and toys that stimulate science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) skills will be among the best selling gifts this coming holiday season.
To make its predictions, the toy retailer tracked toy purchases around the world and saw four trends that it says will impact toy purchases this holiday.
Toys“R”Us says the hit dinosaur movie Jurassic World -- likes its predecessors before it -- has propelled the popularity of dinosaur toys this year, along with the popular TV show Dinotrux and the highly anticipated release of Disney and Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur later this year.
The company also said the general push toward toys that offer an educational element has boosted the demand for and prevalence of STEAM toys that advance inquisitiveness while spurring strategic and creative thinking in children.
The two other types of toys the company has predicted will be big this year are cooking and food-themed toys and interactive pet toys.

The entrepreneurial duo behind Click-A-Brick, Co-Founders Jason Smith and Georg de Gorostiza, say they agree with the Toys“R”Us predictions for the best selling gifts and are pleased to see them because it bodes well for the company heading into the holiday season.
“As soon as we saw the first trailer for Jurassic World, both of us knew dinosaurs were bound to be huge this holiday season, Smith said. “That one is a pretty safe bet. But whereas dinosaurs tend to rise and fall in popularity like most things, we see the demand for STEAM toys as more of a market shift rather than just a trend or fad. We think this is one category of toy that will just keep seeing more and more people gravitating toward. It will likely be a hot seller every holiday season from now on. We are, of course, happy to see these predictions from a place like Toys“R”Us.
