Click-A-Brick has announced it will be launching its newest 30-piece building block set, a beach-themed set called Sandy Sidekicks. Children can use the set, which will launch tomorrow, to build four different beach-dwelling creatures: a crab, a hermit crab, a shrimp and a sea scorpion.
Click-A-Brick Co-Founders Jason Smith and Georg de Gorostiza say the release of Sandy Sidekicks continues the brand’s tradition of animal themes, this one introducing children to the fun world of seaside-dwelling creatures. Animals are always interesting for children and the ocean is especially captivating for them.
“The sea is like some kind of alien world for a lot of people, not just kids,” Smith said. “Even people who grow up near the ocean don’t always know much about the creatures that live there. The ocean is such a huge part of our world that kids should learn about it and they can start to learn some very basics with our Sandy Sidekicks set. Of course, we encourage parents to get down on the floor and play with their kids with the set and explain what they’re building and talk about these creatures. Admittedly, we stretched the theme a bit by including a scorpion, but we checked and they do live in intertidal zones in some areas, and they also live in the desert, which is a sandy place, so we give ourselves a pass on that one.”
Like its predecessor Bug’s Life, Sandy Sidekicks launches both in Click-A-Brick’s United States Amazon store and it’s recently launched United Kingdom Amazon store. Soon, the new set will be available for purchase on the building block company’s own website. The entrepreneurial pair is excited about the simultaneous release in the US and the UK and say it should bolster sales numbers for Sandy Sidekicks, as families on both sides of the ocean discover the set.
“The simultaneous launch in the US and the UK helped a lot with Bug’s Life and we’re confident that it will be the same for Sandy Sidekicks,” Smith said. “Not only does it bring in extra sales, it helps us establish our brand on an international scale, which we’re extremely proud of. Soon, we will be simultaneously launching in other European countries, giving us even more of a boost internationally.”
Click-A-Brick plans to release a 100-piece set next to add to its list of larger sets before adding more specialty sets later in the year. All of the brand’s sets will now be launched in both the US and the UK at the same time.
