What’s better than getting a brand new toy to play with?
How about making your very own brand new toy?
Slime might not be considered a toy on par with something like building blocks, but it’s still fun to play with and it’s super fun to make your very own!
We grabbed this DIY project from Hayley Williams on YouTube. All you need is four ingredients and a few bowls to make slime that looks like a nebula.
Have a go and see how it looks!
What you’ll need:
A five ounce bottle of clear glue for every color you want. (Three bottles should be good.)
Watercolor paint. You can use any colors, but to really make it look like a galaxy, it’s best to use colors like purple, blue and pink.
A bottle of liquid starch.
Glitter glitter glitter! Again, you can use any colors you want, but to get the galaxy effect, use colors like silver, pink, purple and blue.
You’ll also need:
- A bowl for each color
- Something to mix with
Step 1:
Pour each bottle of glue into a separate bowl.
Step 2:
Pour the glitter into the glue. You can pour as much or as little as you like. Try to match the glitter to the paint colors. For example, if you have pink paint, use mostly pink glitter in that bowl of glue. (But you can combine different colors of glitter together in the bowls.) Give each bowl a mix when you’re done.
Step 3:
Put some paint into the bowls. You won’t need to use much, probably just a squeeze. Make sure you don’t put in any water, just the paint. Mix it in.
Step 4:
Pour in just a little liquid starch and mix. The liquid starch is what turns it from sticky glue into slime. Start by pouring in just a little bit and mixing it and then testing the consistency. If it’s still sticky, pour in a little more liquid starch and mix again. Do this until you’ve gotten the consistency you like (slightly sticky, but not enough to stick to your hands).
Do this for each bowl.
Step 5:
Mix the three colors of slime together. Be careful not to mix it too much or you’ll just end up with one solid color. The key is to try and keep some of all three distinct colors visible (although, as you play with it, it will get more and more mixed).
Step 6:
You’re now ready to play with your galaxy slime. What you do with it is up to you, but it makes a nice decoration for a room if you put it into a mason jar.
We suggest getting your Click-A-Bricks and building a spaceship to go along with your galaxy slime.
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial on making your own galaxy slime.
Enjoy!
