It’s almost Halloween! That can mean only one thing: Candy. And costumes. And decorations. And crafts. Okay, so that’s four things.
Anyway, you know we love making things here at Click-A-Brick and we love science.
And today, we’re going to look at how to make a slimy eyeball. They’re a great way to make a creepy decoration for your home and it uses some pretty interesting science with glue and detergent. This crafty tutorial comes courtesy of the Shaun and Kyra YouTube channel.
You may need an adult on hand to help out.
What you’ll need:
- White glue
- Laundry detergent
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Plastic freezer bags
- Bowl
- Markers
- White balloons
- Mixing spoons
- Food coloring
- Scissors
- Ribbon or string
Step 1
For every eyeball you want to make, measure ⅓ cup of white glue into a bowl.
Step 2
Add a few drops of food coloring to the glue and mix it in.
Step 3
Pour three teaspoons of laundry detergent into the glue.
Step 4
Mix it until the glue no longer sticks to the bowl. You now have slime.
Step 5
Cut a plastic freezer bag in half diagonally so you have a bottom corner of it you can use.
Step 6
Put the slime into the freezer bag corner and tie it with ribbon or string so it is secure.
Step 7
For each eyeball you want to make, cut the neck off of two white balloons.
Step 8
Wrap the plastic bag of slime in one balloon and then wrap it in the other balloon with the opening going the other way so the plastic is completely covered by the two balloons.
Step 9
Draw an eye on the balloon.
You’re now ready to cut your eyeball and let the slime ooze out. Or squeeze it out. It’s fun to play with and it’ll make your friends go “ew!” It’s a lot of fun.
