Valentine’s Day is soon and there’s no better way to celebrate than making something fun. You can turn a pencil into a cupid’s arrow with just a few pieces of stiffened felt. It makes a cute little craft and you don’t even have to take the felt off to use the pencil.
This craft comes from the PBS Parents YouTube channel and it’s super easy. Get some glue and scissors and get crafting!
What you’ll need:
- Stiffened felt (any color you want, but we suggest red and black)
- Heart and arrow fletching templates to follow for tracing (you can make your own from cardboard)
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- Marker
- Pencils
Step 1
Make a heart template out of cardboard for yourself and use it to trace hearts from your red stiffened felt.
Step 2
Then, cut out your hearts and some thin strips from the felt. The strips should be long enough to allow for a pencil to slide through the strips when they are attached to the hearts.
Step 3
Glue a strip of the felt onto the back of each heart. Place a pencil in the middle of the heart so you know exactly where to glue the strip.
Step 4
Make an arrow fletching template out of cardboard and use it to cut arrow fletching out of your black stiffened felt. Cut some thin strips of felt, too.
Step 5
Glue two strips to the back of each fletching. Place a pencil in the middle of the fletching so you know exactly where to glue it.
That’s it! Wasn’t that super easy?
Now, when you want to use your pencil, all you need to do is slide your heart up. When you’re not using it, slide the heart down and it becomes and Cupid’s arrow again.
When you’re done making this cute craft, collect your Click-A-Bricks and try making a Cupid’s arrow from those. Love and craftiness are in the air for Valentine’s Day.
