Celebrating Easter is pretty standard, right? You dye some eggs, you hide some eggs, you find some eggs, you eat some chocolate, you have a big meal and there’s a bunny in there somewhere.
But, celebrating Easter doesn’t have to be standard. It can be super fun and educational, too!

Secret Easter Bunny
This is based on the Secret Santa activity of that other famous holiday (Labor Day).
- Get some plastic eggs.
- Pull names out of a hat.
- Place a small gift inside an egg for the person whose name you pulled.
- Enjoy the smile you put on their face.
Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt
This is a cool twist on a classic.
- Get some plastic eggs.
- Get some glow sticks.
- Wait until dark.
- Start the glow sticks glowing.
- Put them inside the plastic eggs with a bit of candy.
- Hide 'em.
- Go find ‘em!
Mystery Egg
Add a little intrigue to Easter.
- Get some plastic eggs.
- Put a prize into the eggs.
- Write three clues to describe the prize in each egg.
- See who can guess what’s inside the eggs.
Lunch Scramble
Before you eat the big meal, eat a small one with this fun little lunch idea.
- Get some plastic eggs.
- Get an egg carton.
- Fill each egg with a lunch or snack item.
- Munch away!
Math Easter Egg Hunt
Math can be fun! (No, really.) Try this one out to inject some mathematical fun into your Easter egg hunt.
- Get some plastic eggs.
- Put a small treat in the egg along with a slip of paper with a number on it.
- Hide the eggs.
- Find the eggs.
- After all the eggs have been found, add up the numbers.
- The child with the highest sum wins a grand prize.
Puzzle Easter Egg Hunt
If you are looking for non-candy related activities, here is an Easter egg hunt that will satisfy your little problem solvers.
- Get some plastic eggs.
- Get a picture from somewhere.
- Cut the picture up into puzzle pieces.
- Put the pieces into the eggs.
- Hide the eggs.
- Find the eggs.
- When they’ve all been found, get the kids to reconstruct the picture.
