Catch the Sun for Mother’s Day with this Amazing Suncatcher Craft

Click-A-Brick best STEM learning toy for boys and girls ages 4 and up

It’s May and that means Mother’s Day!

Your mom is like a ray of sunshine in your life. She’s always there lighting the way and warming your heart. So, what better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than by giving your mom a suncatcher?

What exactly is a suncatcher and how does it even catch the sun? That sounds like some wild science going on there!

A suncatcher is anything that changes the way light looks when light passes through it. They’re often made of glass and hung in windows so sunshine can pass through them. Sometimes, they cause the sunlight to refract and you’ll see a rainbow on the wall. Other times, they just cause the sunshine to make different patterns on the wall.

The best kind of suncatcher is a homemade one that is crafted with love.

So, grab some love and let’s get crafting!

For Mother’s Day, we’re going to make a suncatcher with the help of the TotallyTrinity ~ Fun Kids Stuff YouTube channel.

Arrange the pebbles however you like in the glue. (To get a totally stable suncatcher, it is best to fill the lid completely with pebbles.)

Step 3

Let the glue dry for two whole days. (You can speed up the process by putting it in front of a fan for one whole day.)

Step 4

Peel the suncatcher out of the plastic lid. If it is completely dry, it should peel out easily.

Step 5

Poke a small hole in the glue near the edge of the suncatcher and thread some of the string through the hole.

It’s now ready to hang in the window and catch the sunlight and throw that sunlight onto the wall and the floor in pretty patterns!

When you’re done that, why not make a suncatcher out of your Click-A-Bricks? It’s easy! Just gather all your clear Click-A-Bricks and make whatever shape you want. Hang it in the window and see how they catch the sunlight. You can even change the shape of your Click-A-Brick suncatcher whenever you want.

And when you’re done catching the sunshine, you can disassemble it and combine your clear bricks with the rest of your Click-A-Bricks and make whatever you want with them.

Don’t forget to give your mom a big ol’ hug this Mother’s Day to go along with the crafts and creations you make for her!
